Primary and Wellness Care for your pet

Just like you likely have a primary care physician, our Veterinarians at Highland Pet Hospital wish to be your pet's primary care doctors for life.  We're just like you. We want your pet to be happy and healthy for all of your years of companionship together.

Pets require annual examinations just like people do, since they do not always exhibit signs of illness or disease.  They can't always tell us if they feel off, or if they're hurting. It is important your pet see a veterinarian so you can be assured that any signs of disease are caught early before it is too late.

Sadly, we often see pets who present with a laundry list of problems when it is too late to reverse them. In the end, the pet's life is often shortened as a result. An annual exam is an effective way to identify potential problems early on to maximize your time together with your pet.

During a routine examination, the Veterinarians at HPH will examine or inspect:

  • Teeth
  • Coat/Skin
  • Body Score (weight)
  • Eyes
  • Ears
  • Respiratory System/Lungs
  • Heart
  • Musculoskeletal System
  • Central Nervous System
  • Lymph Nodes
  • Behavior

We will also wish to discuss with you:

  • Diet & Treat Intake
  • Flea/Tick Prevention
  • Heartworm Medications
  • Microchipping your pet
  • Bloodwork
  • Bathing
  • Exercise
