Dr. Melissa Webster
Recognized as Veterinarian of the Year for Hillsborough County in 2006, Dr. Webster is the owner of Highland Pet Hospital and Tampa Veterinary Hospital, a small animal practice that has been providing care to pets and their families since 1955.
Dr. Webster became a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine as a graduate of the University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994. Her interests include dentistry, internal medicine, hospice care, pain management, surgery and exotic pet medicine. She is nationally recognized in her profession as an innovator and leader. Her undergraduate degree was earned at Vanderbilt University.
Her passion for veterinary medicine began as a young girl working with an equine veterinarian, learning wildlife rehabilitation with her mother and volunteering for small animal veterinarians. Earning a B.S. degree from Vanderbilt University in Biology and Chemistry, she continued working with veterinarians before joining Praxis Biologics, a pediatric vaccine manufacturer, and Merck Sharp & Dohme in Pharmaceutical Sales, learning about the medical drug industry before pursuing her dream as a veterinarian.
Dr. Webster has Sparkles, a quiet but often excitable French Bulldog, Archer- a rambunctious Chocolate Labrador Retriever, two cockatiels, Erwin M. Fletcher, III and Maximus. An outdoor girl, she loves horseback riding, fishing, kayaking, golf and traveling. She and her husband spend time together out on the water or on the golf course whenever they get the chance.
